My experience on the THON Operations Committee during my senior year at University Park was truly humbling, transformative, and one of my favorite memories. As a Fundraising Specialist, Gear Chairperson, and Volunteer, I dedicated myself to our mission, managing fundraising activities like Alternative Fundraisers and DonorDrive. The commitment was intense, as we were the first to arrive at 5 AM to set up before THON weekend and the last to leave when it all concluded This year-long effort tested my resilience and teamwork, ultimately changing me as I developed a deeper appreciation for community and the impact we can make together.

 

I was honored to be appointed as Gear Chair for our committee. In this role, I was responsible for designing our merchandise and communicating with vendors to ensure smooth operations, along with attending additional meetings weekly with the gear chairs from all other OPP committees. This experience not only allowed me to contribute creatively but also significantly boosted our committee's morale and sense of closeness. It was a fulfilling opportunity that strengthened our bonds and commitment to the cause.

 

In my role as a Fundraising Specialist, I actively engaged in and seminars focused on effective fundraising strategies within our committee, families, and communities. I played a key role in organizing various fundraising events, ensuring that our initiatives impactful and aligned with our goals.
